APTIM Flood Assessment Estimator in Boca Raton, Florida

Job Overview:

Aptim is seeking Flood Assessment Estimator/Inspectors to be responsible for completing scope of work and damage assessment of homeowners. They will maintain a complete understanding of all applicable Program policies, requirements, and evaluating protocols.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Inspect property damage to determine extent of damages.

  • Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.

  • Attend site walks.

  • Attends pre-estimate meetings with project managers and business line management to plan bid strategy and ascertaining methods of performance based on the scope of work.

  • Prepare detailed estimates in accordance with the scope of work, performing quantity take-offs, determining manpower, equipment requirements, material items and subcontractors.

  • Examine photographs and statements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.

  • Two (2) or more years of large-scale project experience, contributing at an operational, estimator or adjuster level.

  • Construction estimating experience in the field of residential rehabilitation and new construction and/or insurance adjusting experience.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and transportation

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work independently, and effective interpersonal skills.

  • Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills; knowledge of creating tables and graphs in

  • Microsoft Excel; ability to quickly learn new software applications.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CDBG housing and/or FEMA hazard mitigation and similar programs/projects is preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience with Xactimate software and/or CAD skills preferred
