Ryder System Infrastructure & Cloud Architect in MIAMI, Florida

Position Description

The Enterprise Infrastructure & Cloud Architect leads and helps the organization in the effective and efficient design and engineering of IT infrastructure (on premise, cloud and hybrid) that supports all business processes across the enterprise. This individual will have a diversified background of technical infrastructure experience, demonstrated project management acumen, excellent vendor management skills, plus a superior, service-oriented approach to infrastructure engineering. This individual is also responsible for coordination with architecture resources to ensure that quality, efficiency and agility goals are achieved. As a member of the Enterprise Architecture team, the role contributes to the development and helping with the execution of cloud strategy, and ensures its alignment with the enterprise's IT and business strategy and the delivery of capabilities required to achieve business success. This position will coordinate cross functional teams and act as a bridge to Solution Architects.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Technology or a relevant degree

  • Master's degree or MBA preferred

  • Ten (10) years or more experience in Technology architecture & development, infrastructure and operations

  • Five (5) years or more experience in IT architecture or strategic planning role

  • Two (2) years or more experience with architecting solutions involving one or more cloud service providers including AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud

  • Three (3) years or more experience with and developing enterprise architecture deliverables technology roadmaps, reference architectures, platform standards and technology strategies

  • Two (2) years or more Experience in architecting public, private and hybrid cloud solutions across IaaS, PaaS and SaaS cloud providers

  • Experience in architect, design, development of enterprise applications and systems

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and apply abstract enterprise and technical architecture concepts

  • Experience creating and maintaining architecture artifacts for infrastructure related technologies

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and apply abstract enterprise and technical architecture concepts

  • Responsible for ensuring that the company’s IT decisions are made in alignment with the company’s tactical and strategic goals and direction

  • Keep abreast of technology advances (technical scouting) and concerns across all enterprise domains and make recommendations on improvements to the organization’s technical capabilities and technical debt

  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and influencing skills with ability to effectively work at all levels of the organization; strong verbal/communication skills and presentation abilities

  • Excellent facilitating talent and able to drive consensus involving technical and non-technical resources at varied levels experience and management

  • Lead the creation or evolution of the Infrastructure & Cloud strategy. Lead and facilitate the creation of governing principles to guide in the decision making

  • Identify business outcomes and risks. Identifying motivators for cloud adoption and unlocking Enterprise challenges. Promote the EA process, outcomes and results to the organization, including the enterprise’s IT and business leaders

  • Analyzing application portfolios, identifying dependencies & common infrastructure platform components, and helping with assessing cloud migration feasibility

  • Work with other technology teams to analyze Cloud adoption risk implications, both Cyber and Operational Technology risks

  • Identify leading Cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, BPaaS) to provide guidance and make recommendations based on a capabilities assessment

  • Facilitating the Cloud consensus security assessments and validation of non-financial reporting controls

  • Develop decision frameworks. Oversee the documentation of all infrastructure architecture design and analysis work

  • May assist with or be responsible for application readiness to cloud platforms; may build proof of concept environments for assessment

  • Educate business and IT professionals. Communicate the value of the enterprise cloud & infrastructure strategy

  • Enabling and facilitating Proof of Concepts

  • Performs other duties as assigned
