This laboratory support position is assigned to the Bureau of Laboratories Miami, Administration and will be assigned responsibilities in processing and handling of specimens and specimen submission forms.

Enter data from laboratory specimen submission forms into the laboratory computer system. Review forms for completeness.

Provide assistance for Triage Department. Match received specimens to county manifest with accuracy and racked by appropriate laboratory department. Ensures samples are sent to corresponding laboratories in a timely manner. Ships specimens to the appropriate referring laboratories and keeps records of all send outs. Follows IATA packing and shipping regulations. Follows all DOH safety policies and wears the appropriate PPE. Infectious Substances Packaging & Shipping Training/ Certificate is required.

Update lab records with correct data from corrected submission forms.

On a daily basis mail laboratory reports to submitting facilities.

Communicate with submitting facilities concerning test results or other problems.

Perform results entry under direct supervision of laboratory technical staff supervisor when necessary.

Perform clerical duties that include but are not limited to filing, faxing, copying, shredding, and quality assurance. Other related duties as required.


Knowledge of administrative principles and practices.

Knowledge of office procedures and practices.

Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data relating to administrative functions.

Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports.

Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
